The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has dismissed as ” propaganda of the opposition” the speculations in some quarters that the party has suspended the governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi.
The state had been awashed with rumours of the suspension of the Governor by the party over alleged anti-party activities.
The speculations had been on in the state for over a week, causing fears and panic among the governor’s loyalists and supporters.
But the National Vice Chairman of the Party( South East), Chief Austine Umahi, in Abakaliki on Tuesday punctured the rumour as the gossip of the idle opposition in the state.
Chief Austine, who spoke while addressing a forum of Senior Technical Assistants(STAs) and Technical Assistants (TAs) to governor David Umahi, noted that “Governor Umahi remains not only a respected member of the party but also one of the leaders upon whose shoulders the party stands”.
He stated that the South East Chapter of the party under his leadership which is a critical component of the party’s decision making organ would have been part of the process of taking such decision if there was a need for such action.
Chief Austine further described the rumour as “the idle talks of the lazy opposition politicians” in the state whom. he said, were desperate to create confusion in the state ahead of 2019 general elections.
He noted that governor Umahi remains one of the pillars of the party in South East whose political wizardry would be needed to ensure the victory of the party in the zone come 2019.
Austine urged them to disregard the rumour and concentrate on propagating the wonderful achievements of the governor ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Meanwhile, over four hundred and fifty appointees of the Ebonyi State Government on Tuesday adopted governor David Umahi for second term in office come 2019.
The appointees who came under the platform of Senior technical Assistants(STAs) &Technical Assistants(TAs) to the governor said that there was no vacancy in Ebonyi Government House come 2019.
At a press conference in Abakaliki, the group said they would stand by the governor and ensure his reelection for second term come 2019.
