Some Nigerians have criticized Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State for hyping the approval of Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado for use as the venue of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election.
The election is expected to hold on May 5 (tomorrow) with no fewer than 33 governorship aspirants contesting.
When the Governor posted that he has approved the venue of the congress on his twitter account, majority of his followers expressed dissatisfaction.
The Governor said: “In the spirit of political tolerance and democratic governance, I have directed the release of the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado State for use as the venue of the APC governorship primary election tomorrow. How I wish APC governors can also do this in their States.”
Earlier, Mr Taiwo Olatubosun, the state Publicity Secretary of the party, earlier said: “We have four categories of delegates for the primaries namely; delegates from each of the 117 wards of the state, those from the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs), as well as members of the State Executive. There are also statutory delegates.’’
According to Olatubosun, the party has made adequate arrangement to ensure that the event is hitch- free.
“We have no doubt that our party will conduct free, fair and credible primary election, there is nothing to worry about.
‘’We have informed our party leaders at the National Secretariat that, no form of impersonation will be tolerated.”
Olatubosun, however, urged all aspirants to base their campaign on issues not on blackmail, warning that aspirants who engaged in any form of bad utterances, blasphemy or ridicule would be sanctioned.
