Married teacher arrested over ‘sexual relationship with pupil, 14, she sent nude selfies to and bought drugs for’

A married teacher has been arrested over an alleged sexual relationship with a 14-year-old pupil.

Stephanie Peterson is accused of sending nude selfies to the boy and buying him drugs, police said.

The 26-year-old was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of lewd or lascivious battery and one count of transmission of harmful materials to a minor.

The science teacher at New Smyrna Beach Middle School began a relationship with an student in 8th grade in November, Volusia County Sheriff’s Office reported.

She has reportedly now resigned, the school district said.

During interviews, the teenager reportedly told investigators the relationship began when Peterson started sending him images of herself in a state of undress.

He reportedly said Peterson then started driving over to his home at night, on several occasions, picking him up around 11pm and returning him home at between 1am and 2am.

She also bought and supplied him marijuana, he claims.

The victim’s grades began to suffer after the illicit relationship began and she told him they couldn’t tell anyone or they’d get in trouble, it is alleged.

However, the police were eventually alerted to the alleged illicit relationship on Tuesday when the teen finally told his parents about it.

Peterson was arrested and is presently held on a $25,000 bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail.

School officials told police that Peterson resigned from her teaching position on Monday.
